Louisville residents say the USPS delays are back as holiday shipping season heats up

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville’s main post office is once again facing complaints of mail delays despite a federal audit earlier this year that recommended changes at the facility.

Employees at the Gardiner Lane facility continue to share photos and videos showing bins filled with mail and letters piled along hallways inside the processing and distribution center. While mail volume typically increases during the holiday season, employees said the backlog started much earlier this year. Several said the post office began falling behind even before Thanksgiving.

Some customers said they’ve gone days without receiving mail. Others said tracking information shows their packages sitting at the Gardiner Lane facility. And others said their Priority Mail isn’t being delivered on time.

Several reached out to WDRB Investigates, frustrated by what they describe as worsening delays.

On Friday morning, semi trucks were seen lined up outside the building, backing up traffic as drivers waited to load and unload.
