Local USPS worker faces child stalking charges

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A Siloam Springs man was arrested Thursday after allegedly attempting to meet up with a child, and police reports now say he was the subject of an internet crimes investigation that focused on identifying adults seeking sexual encounters with minors.

KNWA/FOX24 received a tip on Saturday afternoon regarding Trey Hughes, 32, who was arrested while reportedly “trying to meet up with a child 15 or under” on Oct. 1.

The tip included that Hughes was “in uniform” at the time of his arrest, coming directly from his shift at a local U.S. Postal Service location to meet up with the underage girl.

A preliminary report form obtained Monday said the investigation began when Hughes contacted a decoy teenager, which was a fake internet personality created by police to assist the investigation.
