Nearly 38 years have passed since Kenny Garrison of St. Cloud started working at the United States Postal Service (USPS). Most of it was at the location in Little Falls. Now, more than three decades later, he’s looking at retiring, April 30.

Garrison said he had initially planned to retire at the end of the year to make his time at USPS a full 38 years. However, when the USPS offered an early-out incentive package to about 10,000 workers nationwide, including Garrison, he embraced the opportunity to retire earlier. Nevertheless, the reality of retiring has also made him reminisce of times gone by.

After graduating from the Little Falls Community High School in 1979, Garrison attended St. Cloud Vo-Tech for a year to study graphic arts before he decided to spread his wings and moved to Minneapolis. After working for a few years in Minneapolis, he was introduced to working for the USPS in 1983. While he enjoyed working at the Minneapolis location, Little Falls Postmaster Herman Trebiatowski continuously encouraged him to take the exam, beginning Nov. 26, 1987.
