WASHINGTON (WIFR) – The United States House of Representatives voted on a bill to rename a Rockford, Illinois post office after letter carrier Jay Larson.
Monday, Dec. 9, the U.S. House approves a bill to rename the United States Postal Service (USPS) building at 5225 Harrison Ave., Rockford, to the Jay P. Larson Post Office Building.
The bill, backed by Congressmen Eric Sorensen (D-IL) and Darin LaHood (R-IL), now goes to the U.S. Senate for consideration before it ends up on President Donald Trump’s desk to be signed into law.
Larson was killed on March 27, 2024, in Rockford while delivering mail. The 49-year-old Rockford native served 25 years with the USPS.
