Five Points Post Office to rekindle nostalgic tax-day service with ‘Stamp Act’ event

Long before the era of electronic filing, post offices across the nation used to extend their hours until midnight on Tax Day, ensuring that taxpayers had ample time to meet the deadline. This nostalgic tradition of late-night stamping provided a crucial service, alleviating the stress of last-minute filers and ensuring compliance with tax obligations.

In homage to this tradition, the Five Points Post Office will host the inaugural “Stamp Act” event. This event aims to recreate the communal spirit and convenience of midnight tax stamping, offering taxpayers the opportunity to receive an April 15 date stamp on their postage-ready tax filings.

Taxpayers can participate in the “Stamp Act” event by either driving through or walking up to the Five Points Post Office with their completed tax documents. While the filings will be processed the following day, taxpayers will receive the peace of mind knowing that their documents have been officially date-stamped on Tax Day, helping them avoid penalties or late fees.
