First set of cost-saving changes to USPS starts Tuesday: What to know

The United States Postal Service is implementing its first set of planned cost-saving “refined service standards” beginning Tuesday, April 1.

The new standards will enhance service predictability and reliability, according to a press release about the changes.

First-Class Mail, periodicals, marketing mail, package services, USPS Ground Advantage, Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express will be impacted by the changes, according to the release. The new standards will preserve the current service standard day ranges for First-Class Mail and USPS Ground Advantage and offer two- to three-day turnaround service in some regions.
