YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — A federal judge on Thursday denied a request for bond by one of two defendant in the fatal shooting of a Warren letter carrier earlier this year.

Writing for the court, U.S. Judge Donald C. Nugent said, “that there is no condition or combination of conditions that could reasonably assure Mr. Sledge’s appearance and the safety of the community were he to be released pending trial.”

Thomas Sledge, 44 and his son, Kaprise Sledge, 24, were indicted on Oct. 2 by a grand jury on charges of murder of an officer and employee of the United States and one count of discharge of a firearm during a crime of violence for the March 2 shooting death of Jont’e Davis.
