Sheriff’s officials on Thursday night responded to a report of an explosion in north Sacramento County and found a destroyed parcel mailbox and pieces of an explosive device.

The explosion occurred at a community mailbox in the 8800 block of Redwater Drive in a residential neighborhood near Antelope.

Patrol deputies responded to the reported explosion and found the destroyed parcel box, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
