A nearly 100-year-old federal ban on mailing handguns through the U.S. Postal Service is unconstitutional and cannot be enforced, according to an opinion released Thursday by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
The 15-page opinion concluded that a 1927 law, which made it illegal to use the Postal Service to mail concealable firearms, such as pistols and revolvers, infringes on the Second Amendment.
“Section 1715 makes it difficult to travel with arms for lawful purposes, including self-defense, target shooting, and hunting,” wrote T. Elliot Gaiser, the assistant attorney general for the Office of Legal Counsel.
“The statute also imposes significant barriers to shipping constitutionally protected firearms as articles of commerce, which interferes with citizens’ incidental rights to acquire and maintain arms,” the opinion continued.
Every law that has been put in place regarding the second amendment is Constitutionally illegal. The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed!!! This means do not impede or try to stop or interfere or slow down or to make difficult. It means simply hands off . I don’t care if you’re a felon or not. Every person has a God given right to be able to protect themselves their families and their property. Any and all laws pertaining to this are in fact a violation of the second amendment and need to be struck down immediately. The core values of our country are founded by the people who beared arms against one of the most powerful military in the world at that time. And those people were all considered criminals traitors and felons. That’s a fact. And our government has been trying to take possession of our ability to protect ourselves. This is not gun control this is control. Unfortunately, some people are either too stupid or blind to see this. And would willingly give up their rights and yours as well without thinking twice about it until about 2 seconds before their head is blown off because they thought it was a good idea to trust the government.
