NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — News 4 confirmed multiple investigations are underway involving the Cross County Road United States Postal Service distribution facility in North Charleston. The documents, obtained through a Freedom of Information Act Request, reveal two charges, or complaints, filed with the National Labor Relations Board this summer, one in June and another in July. Both allege violations of Section 8 of the National Labor Relations Act, saying:
Within the previous six months, the Employer failed and refused to bargain in good faith with the union as the collective bargaining representative of its employees, failing to furnish information requested by the union.
News 4 spoke with an employee of that facility and member of the American Postal Workers Union Local 566 who wished to remain anonymous and has worked there for over a decade. They claim to have filed multiple charges with the NLRB against the facilityon behalf of the union. They describe instances of “time theft” being unjustly used to fire employees based on data from USPS workers’ clock rings, a timecard system used by USPS.
The employee alleges these clock rings are being manually adjusted by USPS management, members of the National Association of Postal Supervisors, to quote “delete and [falsify]” time worked for APWU members.
