Cleveland school district dropped the ball after postal worker allegedly assaulted student

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – A local school district is making big changes after 19 Investigates exposes problems with how its police department handles criminal cases.

This comes after a United States Postal Worker was caught on camera allegedly assaulting a student last September.

School officials admit their officers dropped the ball in this case — and now they’re taking action to keep it from happening again.

On September 23, 2024, cellphone video captured a female postal worker — in full uniform — allegedly beating on an 11-year-old girl at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School in Cleveland.

“I didn’t know about it until the video,” said Lavonte Jackson.

Jackson says he was shocked after watching a 19 News report that detailed such a violent incident at his son’s school.

Records show an officer with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) took the call.

According to his report – USPS Letter Carrier Delilah Cross began beating on two 11-year-old girls after police say her daughter started the fight.
