Clackamas County jury convicts man of murder in stabbing death of mail carrier

A Clackamas County jury on Wednesday found a 53-year-old man guilty of murdering a well-known mail carrier in Portland’s Lents neighborhood last year.

Prosecutors said Chad Michael Westover repeatedly stabbed 43-year-old Tristan Thomas during an argument outside a Southeast Sunnyside Road apartment complex in September 2024.

Westover was convicted of second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon.

He will be sentenced Nov. 17.
