Christmas and New Year’s Holiday Recommendations on Live Animal Shipping

The Postal Service delivery units will be closed on December 25, 2025, for the Christmas holiday and January 1, 2026, for the New Year’s holiday.
Customers are asked to observe the following recommendations regarding when and where live day-old chicks and other live animals may be mailed:
• For Christmas – The last day for live animal shipments will be on Monday, December 22, 2025. Live animal
shipments will resume on Friday, December 26, 2025.
• For New Year’s – The last day for live animal shipments will be Monday “day” through Monday “night” December
29, 2025. Live animal shipments will resume on Friday, January 2, 2026.
• For any shippers who wish to enter lives on December 26 or January 2, shippers should keep in mind the reduced
weekend operations for delivery.
Following these recommendations will help the Postal Service protect the welfare of live animals as they travel in our
network. Failure to follow these recommendations may result in live animals being delivered beyond the normal delivery
expectations.
We apologize for any inconvenience this schedule may cause our customers.
