Audit: 100K+ pieces of delayed mail sitting in Louisville USPS branches

LOUISVILLE, Ky.  — Missing mail? A United States Postal Service audit shows delivery may have stalled in Louisville.

On Thursday, June 5, the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General released a March 2025 audit of the Louisville Processing and Distribution Center and the Iroquois Station, Middletown Branch, and Pleasure Ridge Park Branch delivery units.

Auditors discovered over 100,000 mail pieces awaiting delivery, per the report. Some have been there since January 2025.

“At all facilities, we found delayed mail and package scanning issues,” the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General (OIG) wrote. “At the three delivery units, we also identified property condition deficiencies and problems with arrow key security, as well as issues related to the sortation of packages for dispatch to the P & DC. We likewise identified issues related to safety and security at the P & DC.”
