Attacks on USPS employees are on the rise across the nation; officials weigh in

Johnstown, Pa — Attacks on United States Postal workers have been increasing nationwide.

Channel 6 spoke to an official from the United States Postal Service who says robberies and assaults of mail carriers have been on the rise and there are serious consequences for anyone found guilty of committing these crimes.

“Generally speaking, there has been an increase in certain crimes related to letter carriers,” said David Gealey, a U.S. Postal inspector. “It appears that there’s a general increase nationwide.”
