The regulatory commission overseeing the US Postal Service prevailed in a case claiming USPS is underpricing products despite “peak-season” costs caused by a spike in consumer demand for package deliveries every December.
The US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit on Friday denied a petition by United Parcel Service to review an order that it says allows the Postal Service to avoid seasonal costs associated with competitive products—its delivery of priority mail and commercial packages—and gives it an unfair advantage over private sector delivery companies such as UPS and Amazon.com Inc.
