During a Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing last week, Sen. Andy Kim (D-NJ) asked Postmaster General David Steiner about a pilot program to have mail carriers collect census data.

Dear Mr Kim, in case you were asleep, Steiner stated that the USPS is broke and in danger of going under. It’s borrowing from its own employees, so the question is , why are you so concerned about them possibly conducting the census? I think the consensus is that if the USPS is gone, you won’t have to worry about carriers and the census. You missed your opportunity to weigh in on your opinions on reform. Wasn’t the hearing about the future of the USPS?
