Like many postal facilities, the Tucson center regularly receives pallets from business customers dropping off large volumes of mail. Some pallets are reclaimed by the customers, but many others are left behind, leaving facility managers to figure out what to do with them.

In response to U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff, the U.S. postmaster general said “substantial time, resources and attention” are being devoted to the Atlanta Regional Processing and Distribution Center (RPDC) in Palmetto after issues have plagued the facility for months.
The bipartisan legislation, which mirrors H.R. 7629, would provide $7 billion in funding for the Postal Service to secure its infrastructure, including the installation of high-security collection boxes and the replacement of items carried by letter carriers with more secure electronic versions.
