A homeless Oakland man is in custody and accused of stabbing a beloved mother and United States Post Office worker more than 12 times as she was on her way home from her night shift.
Spruill was walking home in the middle of the night, which she usually does with no problem. But she was stabbed near 8th and Henry streets, around the corner from her home.
Chicago police said Friday night, Lofton and a 29-year-old woman were in a vehicle driving southbound on Cicero Avenue when someone in a beige SUV began firing shots.
“It was a hard call for us to close down the Village Post Office operation at the Waikane Store. Nadine and her team are fantastic. Unfortunately, the amount of revenue generated by the operation did not justify the expense of our contract with the store,” she said.

Vignone’s former neighbor, Eric Kortz, has pleaded not guilty to killing the postal worker. Channel 11 has learned that Vignone and his family moved four years ago to get away from Kortz, saying he had become increasingly paranoid and obsessed with them.
