A Tennessee woman stepped outside her home to grab a package — and froze.
Hollie Hogan tells us what should have been a routine delivery turned into a disturbing discovery.
The Georgetown resident says a package left at her front door by the U.S. Postal Service appeared to be covered in blood, though the substance on the package is still undetermined.
We reached out to a USPS spokesperson, who tells us in a statement…
“The safety of our customers and employees is of paramount importance to the Postal Service. We are charged with delivering all mailed items with which we are entrusted. There are procedures in place to properly handle mail and packages that appear to have unidentified substances on the exterior of the envelope or package. Generally, postal personnel would first isolate the item, and it would be delivered in a clear plastic bag with a notice to the customer alerting them to the substance. In this specific case, it was determined that the package was safe to deliver. Regarding next steps for the customer, they have the option of returning the package or if they choose to open it, using safety precautions such as wearing gloves and washing their hands after opening the item. We apologize to our customer for any inconvenience or concern this delivery may have caused.”
