Lead-based paint forces Quincy Orville Browning Station Post Office closure

QUINCY (WGEM) – The Quincy Orville Browning Station Post Office at Eighth and Hampshire will close because of lead-based paint.

A letter dated Feb. 23 that was posted on the front door says the office will close Friday.

The Quincy Orville Browning Station Post Office will have its services transferred to the Quincy Main Post Office at 3535 Locust St.

Customers with a post office box will be able to receive their mail daily at the main office starting March 2.

Retail and window services are offered at the main post office from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

There was no date or timeline mentioned for the downtown facility to reopen.
