A Prince George’s County man is the latest Marylander to claim a prize from the Powerball jackpot roll that is garnering attention across the nation. The over $1 billion jackpot is what caused the Multi-Match fan to add Powerball to his routine, and his $50,000 win on Dec. 15 may have widened his lottery interest permanently.
“I really enjoy Multi-Match, been playing it for years,” the Bowie resident said Dec. 22 when he claimed his prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. “I’ve done pretty well with it, too.”
He said he’s brought home a few big prizes, enough to keep him coming back for more. Only something momentous, however, could tempt him to stray from his favorite game. This is how Powerball’s jackpot run gets involved.
“I bought my Multi-Match ticket just like always, but that $1 billion jackpot was on my mind, so I got a Powerball, too.” He bought his tickets at the 7-Eleven at 6860 Race Track Road in Bowie.
The retired postal worker scanned his tickets the next day and got the surprise of his life.
“When I saw the $50,000, I yelled. It was good there weren’t many people in the store when I did. I just couldn’t keep it in,” he exclaimed.
