Celebrating 250 years of holiday connections

Each holiday season is a delight. There’s the joy of sending gifts, the exhilaration of receiving one, and the excitement of connecting with family and friends. Every year, the U.S. Postal Service makes that a reality, serving a critical role in keeping traditions and connections alive. This year that role feels even more meaningful as we celebrate our 250th anniversary with a holiday marketing campaign we call Delivering Since 1775.

The inspiration for this campaign came naturally. Two and a half centuries of service is no small milestone, and we wanted to celebrate the legacy of USPS while also showing how we’ve evolved to meet the needs of today’s customers. We found resonance in the idea of “peace of mind.”

For 250 years, peace of mind has been at the heart of USPS, especially during the busy holiday season. Whether it’s a handwritten card, a long-awaited package or a last-minute gift, our role has always been to deliver more than mail. We deliver reassurance, connection and trust.

To bring this story to life, the campaign uses visuals that capture both legacy and progress. Black-and-white historic images and footage are paired with modern, full-color equivalents. A mail carrier from a bygone era is mirrored by present-day employees delivering and picking up packages. A vintage delivery truck and horse-and-buggy stand alongside our modern next generation delivery vehicles. And a young child from winters past looks just as eager to mail a card as a kid from today does peering into their mailbox to see what’s just been delivered.

As our new TV spot and supporting social media, posters and signage show, this split-screen design tells a story of continuity and transformation, reminding people that while the tools have changed, our purpose has not. This is a story that honors our history, celebrates our present and points to our future, where a transformed USPS is delivering reliable, affordable, high-quality service to all our customers in every American community in a way that also makes financial sense for USPS.

The holidays are also about practical needs, and this year’s marketing campaign highlights the services that make the season easier. From shipping deadlines and free package pickups to affordable products like USPS Ground Advantage® and modern technologies like Informed Delivery® and Click-N-Ship®, we’re showing customers that USPS makes holiday sending simple. And don’t forget, The Postal Store® always has gifts and holiday stamps on hand.

What I find most endearing about the Delivering Since 1775 holiday campaign is that, at its core, it reminds us of the bond between USPS and the American people. For generations, we’ve been there for the moments that matter most, delivering peace of mind and connecting Americans, wherever they may be.

This holiday season, as families and friends exchange gifts and greetings, we’re proud to continue that tradition, just as we have since 1775.
