An Oklahoma City man is headed to federal prison after admitting he put a postal worker in a chokehold while the carrier was delivering mail last year.

U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester announced that Kantrell Dawan Henderson, 34, was sentenced Monday to 18 months in federal prison for assaulting a federal officer.

The incident unfolded on October 19, 2024, in a metro area neighborhood. According to court documents, Henderson confronted the mail carrier in the middle of his route and placed him in a chokehold. The assault was interrupted when a passerby stepped in, physically pulling Henderson off the victim and allowing the carrier to escape.

Oklahoma City Police officers arrived shortly after and arrested Henderson following a brief confrontation.
