NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A U.S. Postal Service worker was hurt Monday afternoon in a crash of a mail delivery vehicle and a semitractor-trailer hauling wood near Noblesville, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said.

The crash was reported about 1 p.m. Monday at the intersection of State Road 38 and Mill Creek Road. That’s about a 10-minute drive northwest of downtown Noblesville.

Investigators from the sheriff’s office think the semitruck, traveling westbound, failed to slow down and struck the rear of the postal vehicle, which was stopped at the intersection waiting to turn south onto Mill Creek Road. The impact caused the postal vehicle to spin and overturn onto its right side, leaving the driver injured.

The U.S. Postal vehicle driver, who was not immediately identified in a media notice from the sheriff’s office, was taken to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital-Indianapolis for treatment of serious injuries.
