MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Sixteen years have passed since a central Alabama postal worker was shot to death. His killer remains unknown to this day.
Postal highway contract driver Tony W. Harrelson was killed at the Camp Hill Post Office on Oct 2, 2009. The Dadeville man’s body was discovered around 6:15 p.m. that evening after an apparent robbery.
The United States Postal Inspection Service quickly offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to the unknown suspect’s capture. Tens of thousands of flyers were also distributed. To date, however, no one has come forward with information.
A possible clue to the investigation involves other post office branches. Since the beginning of the investigation, the U.S. Postal Service has believed a robbery prior to Harrelson’s murder at the Troy Post Office, as well as a robbery at the Hope Hull Post Office shortly after his death, could be related.
