Queens, NY – The United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) along with the New York Police Department (NYPD) recently conducted enforcement operations in areas of Flushing, Glendale, and Ridgewood that resulted in the arrest of 10 individuals.

Arrests were made of two suspects responsible for a majority of recent mail theft activity from USPS relay boxes within areas of Ridgewood and Glendale in July. Other search warrant operations were focused on quality of life crimes in Flushing, in which stolen mail, IDs, credit cards, and a postal key were recovered, in addition to the seizure of various illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Eight individuals were arrested in connection with these illicit operations, with multiple charges against them, including mail theft, promotion of gambling, and criminal possession of controlled substances.

“These efforts continue to drive our determination to disrupt various criminal groups, especially those that steal mail to fund their unlawful activities,” said arnell Edwards, acting Inspector in Charge of the New York Division of the Postal Inspection Service. “We thank the NYPD and the Queens District Attorney’s Office for their partnership and resources to help us stop mail theft and related financial crimes that endanger our nation’s mail system as well as our beloved communities.”

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is dedicated to defending the nation’s mail system from criminal activity, preserving the sanctity and trust of the U.S. Mail, and protecting United States Postal Service employees. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service values our law enforcement partners for supporting our mission to protect the integrity of the U.S. Mail.

It is important to note that criminal charges are only allegations; every defendant is presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty.
