A mail carrier employed with the Malvern post office has been charged with two alcohol-related misdemeanors after reportedly being captured on film driving a mail truck while intoxicated on the campus of Arkansas State University Three Rivers.

On the afternoon of September 12th, Christopher Woods, 48, was taken into custody and booked on charges of possessing an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle and public intoxication, both Class C misdemeanors. The charges stem from an incident where the Malvern Police Department responded to a call regarding an intoxicated employee at the local post office at approximately 1:51 p.m. that day. Upon arrival, officer made contact with reporting party John Doddridge, who directed them to the suspect who was found sitting behind the wheel of a mail truck, passed out.

When the first arriving officer made contact with Woods, she encountered him appearing to be asleep, seated in an upright position in a state of partial undress. Once officers woke Woods and directed him to exit the vehicle, MPD body camera footage shows him speaking indecipherably to law enforcement, who had to assist him to adjust his clothing appropriately. A portable breathalyzer test performed at the scene confirmed Woods’ alcohol level being recorded as .132.
