Postal employees argument escalates into felony charge

DUNWOODY, Ga. — Dunwoody police arrested two U.S. Postal Service workers May 28 after they allegedly got into a verbal disagreement that escalated to violence at Red Pepper Taqueria near Perimeter Mall.

An officer said units responded to reports of “an active fight with blood everywhere” around 9 p.m. at the Ashford Dunwoody Road restaurant.

The manager told officers that one member of a group of employees at a Sandy Springs post office became upset with the cost of his bill, attempted to leave but eventually paid.

The bartender assisting the group with their bills said the man harassed him after paying. The employee also said several arguments broke out while he was trying to have them pay.

The manager said he initially stepped away from the group, which continued to get louder before he saw someone throw water on an employee. When he stepped in to quell the fight, he said someone threw a bottle of Don Julio at him but missed.

Officers later said the glass bottle struck another postal worker in the eyebrow, which caused a laceration and bleeding. The water and glass bottle were thrown as the patrons were being pushed out of the restaurant, the manager said.
