NC post office remains damaged after car crashed into it nearly a year ago

CARY, N.C. (WNCN) — CBS 17 Investigates is getting answers after a concerned viewer reached out about a Cary post office that remained damaged after Cary police say a man accidentally hit the gas pedal and collided with the front of the building.

It happened on September 21, 2024, at the USPS post office location on Wrenn Drive.

Police say no one was injured, the driver wasn’t charged, and it’s a closed investigation.
However, the main entrance of the post office remains closed off with caution tape.

CBS 17 also reached out to a representative with the U.S. Postal Service. A spokesperson sent us the following statement:

“A customer’s vehicle accidentally crashed into the Cary Post Office, causing extensive damage to part of the office. The Post Office is open while the Postal Service continues to work through the repair process with our Facilities Team, including structural engineers and contractors. We are grateful there were no serious injuries. We thank customers for their understanding and continued support.”
