Arrest warrant issued for USPS mail carrier seen beating young girl near elementary school

CLEVELAND (WOIO/Gray News) – An arrest warrant has been issued for a Postal Service worker who was caught on camera beating a young girl.

Authorities identified the letter carrier as Delilah Cross, who was seen in a cellphone video from the reported incident on Sept. 23, 2024.

The brawl broke out in broad daylight at Ben Franklin Elementary School on Spring Road in Cleveland, right after students were released from class.

An officer with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District Police Department responded to the scene.

According to his report, a 10-year-old girl told him that while walking to the bus, Cross’s daughter attacked her with a book bag.

She said that’s when the girl’s mother also got involved.

The report states the postal worker “jumped into the fight and called her a ‘B-word’ and pushed her to the ground, causing her to hit her head on the tree.”

The responding officer anticipated charging Cross with several offenses, but when WOIO first reported the fight last week, no charges had yet been filed.

On Wednesday, an arrest warrant was issued for Cross for the following misdemeanor charges: two counts of assault, endangering a child, criminal activity on school property and delinquency of a child.
