Popular USPS carrier to retire

A longtime mail carrier serving Morgan Park is set to retire later this month, and residents have been showing their appreciation for his years in the community.

Larry LaPorte, 64, has worked as a United States Postal Service (USPS) mail carrier out of the Mt. Greenwood station for over 40 years.

His current route includes Western to California avenues from 110th to 115th streets, which has recently been lined with signs wishing him well in retirement.

LaPorte plans to retire on April 30, and he is grateful for the support from local residents.
