Former USPS employee speaks on chaos inside new facility

Kelly Jackson worked as a mail processing clerk at the new hub back in October. Her job was to check in trucks and scan the skids of packages.

“A lot of times those would come off or there’d be some (mail) on the floor of the trailer, and they would just have you throw them in the box, or tape them back on the box and they didn’t always go with that actual shipment,” said Jackson.

When mail came in that was damaged, she said it was set aside and forgotten about.

“We would put those in big bins, and they would sit there for two or three weeks and just keep adding and it’s mail from different places,” said Jackson.

She also said that there were not enough forklift drivers for the amount of pallets coming in and out of the bays.

Semis wrap around the building daily, some said they’ve waited over six hours to be helped. Jackson said they were instructed to help those who were sitting there the longest first, but that wasn’t always the case.
