Man accused of killing postal worker arraigned

Derrick Deon Lott Jr., the man accused in Monday’s shooting death of a coworker at a postal facility in Missouri City, was seen by a magistrate judge on Wednesday.

Lott, 24, was charged with murder, a first-degree felony punishable by up to life in prison.

That judge set Lott’s bond at $2 million and granted all the bond conditions the State requested.

Lott has retained attorney Allie Booker.

No court date has been set.

Lott is accused of shooting Kevin Hines around 10 p.m., at the USPS local processing facility, located at 611 U.S. Highway 90 in Missouri City.

The Fort Bend County Medical Examiner’s Office reported that Hines had been shot once in the back of the head.
