Expect Delays: Postal Service downgrades service performance targets

On Friday last week, the Postal Service shared its FY 2025 performance targets with the Postal Regulatory Commission.

Over the past several years, the Postal Service has had a difficult time meeting these goals, and it has apparently decided that the best way to achieve targets is to lower them. In other words, expect things to get worse before they get any better.

The performance targets are the Postal Service’s goals for the percent of the mail delivered on time with respect to service standards. They are not supposedly to be merely aspirational. The PRC is obligated to determine if the Postal Service is in compliance based on whether or not the targets are being achieved
