Postal Worker Fatally Struck By Car In Santa Rosa

He was a 33-year-old resident of Santa Rosa, police said, and was standing outside his postal vehicle sorting mail when he was struck.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A U.S. Postal worker was struck and killed by a car Monday while standing outside his postal vehicle sorting mail in Santa Rosa, police said.

Emergency personnel were dispatched at 5:05 p.m. Monday to Northpoint Parkway and Corrigan Street in Southwest Santa Rosa for a collision involving a GMC Denali —a full-sized SUV —and a U.S. Postal Service vehicle.

The SUV was in the front yard of a home on Corrigan and the postal vehicle was in the middle of Northpoint.

Multiple people called 911 and told Santa Rosa Police Department dispatchers a man was lying in the roadway. Callers indicated he was a postal worker and said it appeared he was no longer alive.

As police officers and medical personnel arrived on scene, the victim was immediately pronounced dead by medical personnel.
