21 USPS locations still closed in western North Carolina, mobile units deployed

United States Postal Service (USPS) operations in North Carolina have resumed following Hurricane Helene. However, significant work remains to deliver a backlog of mail and packages, and full recovery of service in the mountains may take some time.

“As of Oct. 30, all USPS North Carolina processing facilities and most retail and delivery units have reopened,” a statement from USPS said. “Where retail and delivery units remain inaccessible, we have relocated operations to nearby units and are further deploying mobile retail units to make sure we can provide retail and delivery services to impacted communities as quickly as possible.”

News 13 received a number of questions about postal operations in Barnardsville recently. USPS spokesman Philip Bogenberger said, “The Postal Service has temporarily relocated retail and delivery services for Post Offices impacted by Hurricane Helene to nearby locations to ensure that customers can receive their mail and packages as swiftly as possible.”
