Somerset Co. family speaks out after postal worker allegedly ‘crushes’ kitten with package

A Somerset County family says their family kitten was found dead on their porch on Monday, underneath a large box that had been delivered by the postal service.

“The package weighed probably 20 pounds, and the cat maybe weighed four pounds,” says owner Louis Alongis.

The Alongis family says their family of cats is now without a member.

They say on Monday, a delivery man from the United States Postal Service allegedly crushed and killed their small kitten, name Chunky, when setting a package down on their porch.

“He just kept on going toward his vehicle. He didn’t even bother to come back and check on the cat to see if there was anything wrong. Maybe he thought he put the tail under the box and just didn’t double check,” says owner Keri Alongis.

Alongis says a few minutes later, she went to get the package and discovered the dead kitten.
