Fort Yates woman indicted for burning down post office

BISMARCK — A Fort Yates woman has been indicted for allegedly committing arson resulting in the destruction of the post office in Selfridge.

Melody Walker-White Twin, 33, Fort Yates, made her initial appearance and was arraigned on charges of arson and destruction of government property in federal court in Bismarck on Thursday.

According to information released by U.S. Attorney Mac Schneider, Walker-White Twin allegedly damaged or attempted to damage the United States Post Office located in Selfridge by using rocks to break windows on Sept. 15. Between Sept. 15-16, Walker-White Twin allegedly damaged or attempted to damage the U.S. Post Office in Selfridge by means of fire. The post office was a total loss from the resulting fire, with only the vault remaining.

Walker-White Twin’s next court date was not included in the information.
