Postal Service Launches “For the Long Haul” Initiative to Honor Long-Serving Employees

The United States Postal Service is proud to announce the launch of its latest initiative, “For the Long Haul,” aimed at celebrating the dedication and commitment of postal workers who have faithfully served their communities in the same position for over 25 years. This campaign will highlight heartwarming and inspiring stories of these postal heroes who have become integral parts of the neighborhoods they serve.

“For the Long Haul” underscores the enduring relationships that letter carriers, retail associates, and postmasters have built with their customers over decades. These stories will showcase their unwavering dedication, often going above and beyond their duties to ensure the postal services, safety and well-being of the people in the communities they serve.

Key Highlights of the “For the Long Haul” Initiative:

  • Spotlighting Long-Serving Carriers: USPS will feature different letter carriers who have delivered mail on the same route for over 25 years.
  • Spotlighting Long-Serving Retail Associates: USPS will feature different retail associates who have served the same community for over 25 years.
  • Spotlighting Long-Serving Postmasters: USPS will feature different postmasters who has served the same Post Office for at least 30 years.
  • These profiles will be shared across various media platforms, including USPS social media channels, local news outlets, and community bulletins.
  • Community Engagement: The initiative will encourage community members to share their own stories and experiences with their long-serving letter carriers, retail associates, and postmasters. This collaborative storytelling will highlight the deep bonds and mutual respect between postal workers and the communities they serve.

“Our letter carriers, retail associates, and postmasters are the heartbeat of the neighborhoods they serve,” said Desai Abdul-Razzaaq, USPS Spokesperson. “The ‘For the Long Haul’ initiative is a tribute to their unwavering dedication and the personal connections they have fostered over the years. These stories are a testament to the important role Postal Service employees play in the daily lives of Americans.”

USPS invites community members to nominate long-serving letter carriers, retail associates, and postmasters, and share their stories. Nominations can be submitted via email  to desai.o.abdul-razzaaq@usps.gov or by visiting local Post Offices. Selected stories will be featured in upcoming editions of the “For the Long Haul” campaign.
