Ontario County postal worker accused of stealing and forging checks

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a postal worker accused of stealing and altering checks on his delivery route. Sekou T. Diakate, 41, was taken into custody on July 31 for second-degree forgery.

Diakate allegedly stole mailed checks, altered them, and deposited them into his account in 2023 while working as a postal delivery person.

The arrest followed an investigation by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from US Postal Inspectors.

Diakate is currently held in pre-arraignment detention at the Ontario County Jail.
