U.S. postal service worker assaulted during armed robbery in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – An investigation is underway after a U.S. postal service worker was assaulted in south Louisville.

A postal inspector said the incident happened Tuesday around 11:45 a.m. on Iroquois Avenue when two armed suspects approached a letter carrier there and threw them to the ground.

The suspects then held the carrier at gunpoint and demanded postal keys. The postal worker handed them over, and the two suspects took off in a dark-colored vehicle.

That worker was not injured. Inspectors and the Louisville Metro Police Department canvassed the area and talked with witnesses.

They’re asking anyone with information to call the USPIS hotline at 877-876-2455. Postal inspectors will be taking the lead on the investigation.
