A Newton postal carrier was cited for DUI April 8 while working his route.
Rob Kuhn, 49, Newton was cited by the Newton Police Department for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs while driving a mail truck in the 600 block of Main Street. Kuhn’s delivery route serves downtown.
Harvey County 911 received calls from the public reporting erratic driving by a mail truck in downtown. Newton Police were dispatched to the area where they observed the mail truck.
“I think a business owner downtown called and said they had contact with this mail carrier and I think he is intoxicated,” said Lt. Jason Thompson with the Newton Police Department. “An officer made contact with him and almost immediately showed signs of impairment.”
Officers performed a field sobriety test before giving a breathalyzer test. Thompson told The Kansan that Kuhn tested at “three times the legal limit.”
