Jacksonville USPS worker killed in crash identified as mother of five

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The woman killed in an accident while driving a mail truck Tuesday has been identified.

Family says the victim in the crash was 40-year-old Marquite Scurry.

Scurry’s cousin said she was a “loving, caring” mother of five children. She loved to bake and cook, and was a hard worker.

“She was deeply loved by family,” her cousin said.

Scurry was working for USPS at the time of the accident on 103rd and Lamping Road where the mail truck overturned.

The Florida Highway Patrol says two other cars were involved. A 45-year-old had minor injuries and a 58-year-old also had minor injuries.

The US Postal Service sent First Coast News the following statement on the crash:

“The Postal Service is deeply saddened by the loss of our postal family member. Our condolences and thoughts go out to her family, friends, and co-workers. Local authorities continue to investigate the incident.”
