TOPEKA (KSNT) – A federal agency’s $40 billion investment is bringing major upgrades for postal workers at Topeka’s Sorting and Delivery Center.
It’s part of the organization’s 10-year plan, ‘Delivery for America’. The plan focuses on improving infrastructure, empowering employees and modernizing efficiency throughout the postal service.
One way Topeka’s center is pushing forward with those tenets is with a new sorting machine.
The machine can work 5,000 packages per hour, up from the previous output of sorting 300 to 500 per hour.
Other areas that received major upgrades include the employee breakroom, bathrooms and new vehicles that have an emphasis on driver safety and improved cargo capacity.
