INDIANAPOLIS — A man was injured in a stabbing Saturday night, April 11 at a USPS facility on the southeast side of Indianapolis, according to a police report.

Family members told 13News anchor/reporter Matthew Fultz that 20-year-old Derius Riggs is fighting for his life.

To learn what happened, American Postal Workers Union Local 130 President Gregory Jones visited the facility, off Brookville Road east of Emerson Avenue, on Sunday, April 12.

“They acknowledged that a stabbing happened,” Jones said. “They gave me an update on the person’s conditions, and we send our condolences out to the family, and we wish a speedy recovery.”

When Jones told his wife what happened, she found a way for them to show their support.

“She lit them candles for the victim that was injured, and we will keep these candles burning for a week,” Jones said.
