No one died or was seriously hurt during the severe weather that spawned tornadoes and left swaths of damage in western and southern Monroe County Friday evening, May 16.
“We also are aware of five storm-related non-severe injuries and one 96-year-old male sustained a head injury and was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital via ambulance. His injury was reported as non-life threatening,” a news release from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said.
But there was widespread property damage and destruction.
The Ranchero Motel at 4805 S. Old Ind. 37 and the Clear Creek Post Office at 4888 S. Rogers St. sustained significant damage.
